INGREDIENTS:
4 medium green peppers, halved and seeded
1 lb. lean ground beef
1 egg
1 1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. dried onion flakes
1 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. garlic salt
1/8 tsp. ground sage
1/8 tsp. ground oregano
1/8 tsp. marjoram
1/8 tsp. celery salt
1 cup cooked rice
1/4 cup bread crumbs (optional)
1/4 cup oatmeal (optional)
1/4 cup wheat berries (optional)
INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine all ingredients except for the green peppers in a large bowl. Fill each pepper half with the mixture. Place in a glass baking dish. Top with sauce (recipe below). Bake uncovered on 375 for 45 minutes or until done.
SAUCE INGREDIENTS:
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup bottled barbecue sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
1 can tomato soup
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire Sauce
1/2 tsp. seasoning salt
1/2 tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. dry onion flakes
SAUCE INSTRUCTIONS:
Combine ingredients and blend thoroughly. Heat and simmer 3 minutes. Pour over meatballs.
***If you don't like green peppers, you can make the meat mixture into meatballs and serve over brown rice or barley.
